AIA Names Portland Community College Newberg Center Top 10 Green Projects of 2012

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and its Committee on the Envrionment (COTE) announced their top ten green projects of 2012. All of these project exemplify sustainable design nd green architecture solutions that conserve energy and resources in impressive ways.

Portland Community College’s Newberg Center is a new educational facility that utilized Premier SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels) for the framing to minimize energy use and achieve net-zero energy goals. A tight building envelope is key to reach energy efficiency goals like these, and pre insulated SIPS panels enabled the designers to achieve their goals.
